Frequently Asked Questions - Claims

Motor Claim
My client was involved in a car accident and has asked me whether they qualify for the “zero excess.” When is the nil excess applicable?
There are three varying sets of criteria for the zero excess – buildings, contents and motor.

Should your clients meet all of the criteria for either the buildings, content or motor then MUA will not charge an excess on their claim.

Criteria for Buildings
  • If the policy holder is over 55 years old
  • All claims where the quantum exceeds R100000.00

Criteria for House Contents
  • If the policy holder is over 55
  • All the automatic extensions of cover

Criteria for Motor
  • If the main driver and spouse are over 55 years of age and have held a license for over 5 years
  • If the vehicle is less than 12 months old from the date it was first registered
  • If an approved, operational MUA tracking device was installed when the vehicle was stolen or hijacked
