Tell us about you...
My nine years at MUA have been a road of discovery – an adventure with amazing opportunities. In all areas of our business, we have created operational processes and procedures that make a difference whilst still maintaining a balance.
What has been a standout feature at MUA so far?
The biggest reward and sign of achievement is receiving communications from both brokers and staff complimenting us and expressing how impressed they are with our service delivery. Seeing the excellent results over the last two years is the ultimate confirmation that all the work together as a great team has been phenomenal.
What character traits set you apart?
Having a passion for implementing solutions to challenges is a strength I treasure. Never giving up until there is a way forward is what I strive for.
What do people generally not know about you?
Having my two grown up children living far away (one in Wales and one in New Zealand) has taught me to appreciate the quality time I get to spend with my family. I am a homemaker who finds tranquillity and the resetting of my balance in home decorating, cooking, entertaining and being creative whilst being surrounded by those I am close to.
What was the first song you developed an obsession for?
Billy Joel – Just the way you are. That song that had the biggest impact from a life changing experience. During my days of study Ndihamba Nawe by Mafikizolo. Memories I will hold and treasure for the rest of my life.
What’s your most inspirational quote?
“I truly believe we all have a sleeping giant within us. Each of us has a talent, a gift, our own bit of genius just waiting to be tapped. It might be a talent for art or music. It might be a special way of relating to the ones you love. It might be a genius for selling or innovation or reaching out in your business or in your own career.” – Anthony Robbins
What’s your favourite down-time activity?
I enjoy quiet quality time with my husband and our three dogs, Layla, Coco and Ice. Walks along the beach and being outdoors. My other treat is to spend time with our crazy but amazing group of friends, who always manage to make you laugh. They help me to deal with life experiences – happy or sad – in a supportive manner. Without friends and family life just would not happen.
What inspirations outside of work impact your life?
When there is so much to be thankful for yet there are humans who will only see the negative. There is a quote by Anthony Robbins – “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” So, choose wisely then decide what the rest of your life is going to be like.
What makes you laugh?
In our area of operations, life often gets crazy and hectic and an appropriate comment from a colleague at the right time breaks the tension and makes the entire team laugh. It’s this that makes it worth it when the going gets tough. Sometimes the smallest things can cause the happiest laughter time. At home and in my personal space, my husband and I share the best sense of humour and very often we do not even have to say anything yet the tears of laughter just happen. We see the good and the happy in all we experience and our motto is to focus on the positive rather than the negative.
What can we expect from you in 2018?
We need to continuously find ways to work smarter whilst making it a smooth and painless process for all to deliver customer service that goes beyond all expectations. Never lose sight of one’s goals, keep looking through the window of opportunity.
