One minute with Heidi Groenewald
Tell us about you...
I’m a married mother of 2 who managed by good grace to land a sweet job quite late in life. To say that I’m happy in what I do doesn’t even cover it.
What has been a standout feature at MUA so far?
Starting a department from scratch has been a huge responsibility and has grown my skills and abilities in incredibly interesting ways. Outside of the direct scope of MUA – but still within our corporate values – I love making a positive difference in children’s lives.
What character traits set you apart?
I can deal with tough choices, and I don’t shy away from difficult decisions. It has helped me to accept criticism, to learn from it and to move on.
What do people generally not know about you?
I have a degree in Psychology.
What’s the first gig you went to?
First gig? Does a Standard Six garage party in Worcester count?
What are the magic moments in your life?
Watching the New York Yankees vs Boston Red Sox with my family. Flamenco in a small bar in Seville. Taylor Swift with my daughter. Opera @La Scala, watching the bulls run in San Fermin, Pamplona. Drinking wine in Bordeaux, swimming in the Algarve.
What’s the your most inspirational quote?
“Learn from everyone, follow no one, watch for patterns, work like hell” – Moneymark. Also “I have not been everywhere, but it is on my list “ – Susan Sontag
What’s your favourite down-time activity?
I read. A lot!
What inspirations outside of work impact your life?
Travelling. It broadens the mind like almost nothing else.
What makes you laugh?
My Yorkies, Benny and Bella. They are a two-dog comedy show.
What is it ‘you can’t stand’?
People who lie. And people that love to ‘cc’ others when not required.
What can we expect from you in 2018?
Continued dedication to the MUA staff and the brand.
