One minute with Lindsay Robertson
Tell us about you...
I am passionate about the insurance industry and am one of the ‘oldies’ – having spent 34 fabulous years in the short-term insurance industry and am privileged to have worked in most areas of the business. I am truly an eternal optimist and always see the bright side of life.
What has been a standout feature at MUA so far?
The region is now performing profitably and we now seem to have the balance between new business and profitability. The staff at MUA are the standout feature.
What character traits set you apart?
I am fortunate enough to have extensive knowledge of the short-term industry and enjoy teaching and mentoring others. Having said that, I also love learning something new every day and do not have an ego of any kind.
What do people generally not know about you?
I am a bit of an introvert and thoroughly enjoy my own company.
What was the first song you developed an obsession for?
“You’re the one that I want” by Olivia Newton John and John Travolta
What’s the first gig you went to?
Grease (now I am really showing my age)
What’s the best piece of ‘life advice’ you’ve ever been given?
Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
What’s favourite down-time activity?
I am an avid reader – I read anything & everything. I also love to travel and did my first solo trip last year, and now I am hooked!
What inspirations outside of work impact your life?
My 2 children – they have turned into beautiful young adults that care about others.
What makes you laugh?
I laugh a lot so it is difficult to say specifically what makes me laugh. It also comes in handy to defuse difficult situations sometimes!
What is it ‘you can’t stand’?
Unfairness of any kind – I am known to support the underdog.
What can we expect from you in 2018?
More of the same and I will continue to manage the Gauteng region as if it is my own business.
