COVID19 Broker Communication
The nationwide lockdown across South Africa has revealed our strength and ability to be agile and resilient as an industry of risk management professionals as we support President Cyril Ramaphosa and government in their efforts to stop the pandemic.
General Support
Our business has been working around the clock to ensure that essential services continue to operate with as little business disruption as possible to you and your clients. While our physical offices have been closed around the country, we remain open for business so that we can continue to serve you and the needs of your clients, keeping them safe, supporting your business and responding to any unforeseen and unfortunate insured events. All our staff are working remotely with operating hours to remain unaffected by the lockdown. Our telephone lines have been temporarily shut down with an automated voice message directing all callers to our Regional or Broker Relationship Managers. Please give us a call or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will respond as soon as possible.
We have permission, as part of essential services and business continuity to provide your clients with 24 Hour Emergency support services. As a back-up and if call volumes escalate or circumstances change, we have implemented additional capacity to ensure continued and reliable support.
MUA Road Assist
We have made arrangements at selected, secure destinations around the country to keep non-driveable vehicles over the next 21 days in the event of an accident. In terms of driveable vehicles our service providers are operating remotely to ensure business continuity and to support your clients. We shall still be able to provide digital assessments if clients supply photographs upon registration of the claim. In instances where brokers may instruct us to not do digital assessments, these clients will only be managed once the restrictions on lockdown have been relaxed to enable us to resume these activities. Panel beaters are not recognised as essential services so we will not be authorising repairs and shall monitor the restrictions and communicate how to facilitate and conclude the necessary repairs.
Should your client experience any one of these unfortunate events while driving to work or running an essential errand like purchasing groceries, they will have access to the following services in the event of a roadside emergency:
- Accidents;
- Tyre changes;
- Jump starts;
- Fuel assistance; and
- Mechanical breakdowns.
Courtesy transport, car rental, vehicle repatriation and hotel accommodation services have been suspended with COVID19 restrictions placed on South African businesses over the next 21 days.
MUA Home Assist
In the event of a home emergency, we will arrange for an appropriate repairman (electrician or plumber). All emergency plumbing and electrical assistance will be available during the national lockdown. In the case of a client having tested positive for the virus, they must inform the service provider as we must adhere to the terms laid down by Government in terms of contact with anyone with a positive COVID19 test. Our Trauma Assist and Intelligent Panic services remain unaffected, your client’s safety in times of trauma remains a concern and priority for us all.
We have confirmed with our network of partners that should clients experience and claim for geysers and burst pipes, that we have both stock and service providers available and on standby to support and service these critical claims. Our claims process will remain unchanged and as a further support to your brokerage and in service of the client, we have additional service providers to maintain the level of service your client expects. These service partners have fully operational call centres who will service your clients' needs and respond accordingly.
MUA Concierge Service Support
Chauffeur services are not seen as part of essential services so this value-added service will be temporarily unavailable due to the nationwide lockdown.
We will continue to produce and provide our online CPD training content to support your learning and development during this nationwide lockdown. We shall notify you as soon as new content is available and should there be any other changes that will impact the service you deliver to your clients and the partnership we continue to enjoy with you.
While this time remains a challenging one for millions of South Africans, we know that together and in partnership, we will stop the pandemic and continue to grow an economy that is prosperous for all.
